RoosteR Special Type R 6/2010

RoosteR Custom Cycles of Airway Heights, WA has built a very special, very stylish two wheeler. The RoosteR Special Type R started as a conceptual design two years ago. It is now one of RoosteR’s production models. The bike seen here is the first RoosteR Special Type R model ever built. It was completed a few months ago and debuted at the 2010 Cincinnati V-Twin Expo.

A ’09 S&S X-Wedge tri-cam motor with an S&S fuel management system powers the Type R. RoosteR Custom Cycles built the exhaust system to be both efficient, as well as EPA compliant. The motor puts out 95 rear-wheel horsepower and 115 ft.-lbs. of torque. A Baker Drivetrain OD6 (overdrive six) right-side drive transmission delivers power to the rear wheel through a 36-tooth drive sprocket. The primary drive uses a 25-tooth sprocket on the motor to output twist to a nine-plate street performance clutch. You’ll notice that there aren’t any rear brake components in the traditional location. That’s because this bike utilizes a Baker drive brake on the transmission.

RoosteR Custom Cycles also built the Pro Street FXR-style frame with four inches of outward stretch. The 38° neck rake makes the bike easy to handle at any speed. The Type R includes a Perse Performance hydraulically-dampened front fork with a triple clamp rake of five degrees.

The premier Type R was painted by Chris Ledgerwood. Ken Fuher followed up with the blue pinstriping.

Renegade Wheels fore and aft provide the icing on the red and white cake. A 21 x 3.25” wheel rolls up front with an Avon tire mounted. The rear wheel is an 18 x 10.5” with a 300mm Avon tire mounted.

Scorpion handlebars on RoosteR risers keep the rider in good posture. The headlight and taillight are Perse Performance by RoosteR components. The Bitchin Seat Company produced the low-profile saddle. Footboards and foot controls are RoosteR products. The gas tank was stamped by Envision Engineering to match the Fat Katz fenders that were cut and fitted by RoosteR Custom Cycles.
